LOVE IN THE FAST LANE
Former Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button has married his girlfriend of six years, lingerie model Jessica Michibata, in an intimate ceremony on the Hawaiian island of Maui in front of dose family and friends.
The couple revealed the news via Twitter, when the Argentine-japanese model changed her name to "Button" and the couple posted this tweet simultaneously:" Happy New Year from Mr Sc Mrs Button!! We're excited to see in the New year with family and loved ones, we hope you're too!" Their union came soon after the McLaren FI team announced that they are to retain Jenson for the 2015 season.
HERE COMES THE BRIDE
For her big day, 30-year-old Jessica wore a strapless, corseted lace gown with a simple train and lace-edged cathedral veil. She carried a bouquet of white blooms wrapped in matching ribbon. Her 34-year-old groom wore a three-piece, dark blue suit and pale blue tie. Jessica's two sisters, Linda and Angelica, acted as bridesmaids and wore pale pink strapless gowns. Each carried a posy of white and pink flowers.
After exchanging their vows，the loved-up couple posed for photographs, with Jenson kissing his bride repeatedly. They were driven to their reception in a classic convertible Pontiac GTO decorated with pale ribbon and later spent the night in the honeymoon suite of the Grand Wailea resort. "Jenson and Jessica had a day they will never forget. They couldn't stop smiling or kissing" said a source. "It was the perfect end to 2014 and now they will start 2015 as man and wife." They had chosen Hawaii as it holds special memories for them. "They have had so many happy times in Maui so it was the perfect place for them to get married," said the source.
The newlyweds first met in a hotel bar in Tokyo in 2008. Jessica was initially reluctant to date the Somerset-born driver, perhaps because of his reputation as a ladies' man. "Of course I read about him being a playboy," she has said. "But I don't see that side of him. We spend nights watching films and making sushi rather than going out to nightclubs."
After Jenson flew Jessica to his Monaco home to see his car collection, she finally agreed to date. In 2011 they split up, but after six months, during which they kept in constant touch, they reunited and have been by each other's side ever since. Marriage had been on the cards from early on in their relationship. "He told me he wants to get married. He said lie is the marrying type," Jessica said in 2009. He told me I am the one for him. I hope he means it.
He certainly did. And on Valentine's Day last year Jenson finally popped the question, presenting his fiancee with an engagement ring featuring a teardrop diamond, set in a diamond-encrusted silver band, valued at £250,000.
TRIBUTE TO DAD
Their engagement provided a light spot in an otherwise sad time, coming as it did shortly after the death of Jenson's father, John. In July last year, speaking about his father, Jenson said: It hurts. He cared a lot for Jessica, so it would have been nice for him to see that we were engaged." It's thought that the couple paid tribute to John by choosing one of his favourite colours, pink, for the bridesmaids, dresses.
As to what the future holds for the newlyweds, starting a family is definitely on the cards. Jenson said recently: love racing but there will come a time when I think, 'I don't want to do this any more.' It's difficult to start a family when you're always away. I want to see my kids grow up."
